Universities and Colleges
Find out more about how Green Impact can help your institution become more sustainable by engaging its student and staff body in taking simple, tangible actions
Green Impact has been delivering change and supporting volunteers to become sustainability innovators across campuses for over 10 years. The example that our academic institutions set their students is fundamental to creating a sustainable future. With over 60 institutions who have used the model, we have gained experience in tailoring the approach to fit almost any kind of university.
We work with a number of international delivery partners across Europe, Australasia and the USA to develop Green Impact across the world. With the number of institutions and participants growing every year, there is a lot of opportunity for innovation of the programme internationally.

We know that FE institutions and their learners have an incredible capacity to influence our society for a more sustainable future. We have created a bespoke programme for UK colleges and their students’ unions to take action across their campuses, curating a national recognition programme on an annual basis.

Hedgehog Friendly Campus
A national biodiversity programme for universities, offering free support to staff and students to make impactful changes for hedgehogs. This programme allows universities to progress through Bronze, Silver and Gold levels, supporting this native species which is currently in severe decline. With a choice of actions including communicating the issues, completing hedgehog surveys and improving green spaces for hedgehogs, there are actions to suit every university. This is a great programme for any urban or rural university and particularly for those who are or have considered declaring a climate and nature emergency.
In 2019, the programme reached 36 universities across the UK and is a partnership between the British Hedgehog Preservation Society and SOS-UK. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and to get involved.
